Alamastr is my way of transforming natural materials into unique objects to wear every day.
My journey in the world of eyewear began in 2016, when I graduated in Optics and Optometry at the University of Naples Federico II. From there I started working in several optical stores — between Como, Rome, Salerno and finally Naples — handling eye examinations, lab work and sales.
At work in the Florence workshop
It was the daily contact with people that taught me the most. Listening to very different clients, I realised the requests were often the same: light glasses, comfortable, able to fit perfectly and, why not, to tell something unique. Needs that standard industrial eyewear too often fails to truly satisfy.
That's where it all began. I asked myself what the alternative could be: if for a bespoke suit one turns to a tailor, why shouldn't something similar exist in eyewear?
So I started looking, and I discovered the world of Italian artisanal eyewear, a reality made of hands, research, materials and time. That discovery led me to leave my job and move to Florence, where for about a year I attended the atelier of a craftsman specialised in designing and making handmade wooden glasses.
After that experience, I came home with new knowledge, new ideas and the desire to keep experimenting with natural materials such as wood, buffalo horn, bio-acetate and bio-resin.
My research is still just beginning. And I can't wait to create together with you the eyewear that looks most like you.
